Second Annual Student Wellness Event
The second annual student wellness event — Taking Care of YOU — is on April 19 from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Waukee Innovation and Learning Center (WILC). All students in grades 9-12 are welcome to attend to come together as one district to learn how to recognize and respond to the stress and anxiety that comes with the end of the 2022-23 school year.
The workshops will include guided meditation, understanding the downsides of DraftKings, developing healthy relationships with mind and body, and so many more. Students will also be invited to enjoy yoga, snacks, workshops, and prizes, including two 23-24 student activity passes and two gym membership giveaways.
Health sciences associates, Ashley Oswald, Tariq Ally, and Tyler Peterson have been working with the social work team to develop the event. Student council members from both high schools will be volunteering for the afternoon. This is the first year student leaders helped created workshops intended to address the real issues and concerns of the student body.
